Gift Inspiration Day Twenty One: Quilt-As-You-Go Placemats

picmonkey main

In just a couple of weeks, we’ll be sitting down to a delicious meal that will be shared with family and friends.  Whether you’ll have four at the table or fourteen, you still have time to make new placemats for your place settings.  Have a set of newlyweds in the family?  A friend that loves a well-set table?  They also make a wonderful gift.  Della has created a placemat pattern that goes together fast yet looks beautiful.

If you’re one of the lucky 120+  who have signed up for today’s in-store free Everything Series seminar, you’re going to learn tips and tricks on the quilt-as-you-go method.  I used it on yesterday’s gift idea (Cooper Carry All), and I was impressed with how quickly a quilt-as-you-go project goes together.  As you piece the top, you’re also quilting through the batting or fusible fleece and the backing.  Once your straight stitches are complete, bind, and the placemats are  finished!

Our placemats were made with the Midwinter Red collection by Minick and Simpson for Moda.   To view the fabric, search for “Midwinter Reds” on our website.  The placemat pattern is available both in-store and on-line free with purchase.
